Our Story

NextGen Expo was born from a vision shared by three passionate gaming industry veterans in early 2022. After attending numerous international gaming conventions, founders Alexandra Morrison, David Tanaka, and Priya Sharma recognized a critical gap in the Australian gaming landscape — there was no dedicated platform showcasing emerging gaming technologies to both industry professionals and enthusiastic consumers.

What started as informal discussions in a Sydney coffee shop evolved into comprehensive planning sessions. The founders assembled a team of event management specialists, technology curators, and gaming industry experts. By late 2022, they had secured initial funding from technology investors who shared their vision of creating Australia's premier gaming technology exhibition.

The inaugural NextGen Expo launched in March 2023 at the Sydney Convention Centre, attracting over 15,000 visitors and featuring 80 exhibitors from around the world. The event exceeded all expectations, receiving widespread media coverage and enthusiastic feedback from attendees, exhibitors, and industry leaders alike. This success validated the founders' belief that Australia needed a world-class gaming technology showcase.

Over the subsequent years, NextGen Expo has grown exponentially. The 2024 edition introduced dedicated zones for virtual reality, cloud gaming, and esports competitions, while the 2025 event expanded to include comprehensive educational programming and indie developer showcases. Each year has brought innovations in visitor experience, exhibitor opportunities, and technological demonstrations.

Today, as we prepare for NextGen Expo 2026, we have established ourselves as the Southern Hemisphere's leading gaming technology exhibition.
